Notice the swastikas and other signs of hate. Do not get used to them. Set an example – remove them yourself.
Under Stalin successful farmers were portrayed as pigs, suggesting slaughter. They were the first to lose what they had. But the poorer farmers became victims in their turn.
Even symbols of loyalty – make sure the symbols include your fellow citizens rather than exclude them. Even lapel pins – some people chose to wear swastika lapel pins; then later others had to wear yellow stars.
